1. Pick up College Application in the Career Center/Counseling Office or use On-Line Applications (preferred method).

  2. Fill out the hard-copy application (Be sure to print in black or blue ink only).

  3. Completed applications should be turned in to the Counseling Office (with application fee-check or money order only) for processing.

  4. Students doing on-line applications must print out the "Counselor" page and bring it in to the Counseling Office for processing.

  5. It is recommended that students apply to college by Thanksgiving of their senior year (note: some colleges/universities have an early admissions program.  Students interested should contact the college of their choice in late August/early September).

  6. Students can access all in-state college websites by clicking on our college/university link.  These sites include electronic applications and other important college information.

  7. Students interested in attending an out-of-state college are advised to "Google" that school website for applications/information.

  8. Seniors are reminded that you took the ACT test as part of the MME last year.  ACT tests are offered in September, October & December (recommended dates for 12th grade students who want to retake).  NOTE: students planning to attend an out-of-state college/university should contact that school as to what college entrance exam is required (ACT or SAT).

  9. Seniors planning to attend Mid Michigan Community College should apply before March of their senior year.  Applications are available in the Counseling Office or on-line.  All applications should be processed through the Counseling Office.

  10. Students should be aware that college and military reps visit our high school campus.  They will be set up in the commons area during lunch periods.  To check out the times and dates of these visits, you should go to our website link "Dates to Remember".

  11. Students are also encouraged to do on campus college visits before choosing a college.  Contact the college/university for a planned visit. Resources for a successful visit are on the GHS Guidance web page.

  12. Determine how you will finance your college education.  Check out the Counseling Website for scholarships, scholarship searches & financial aid information. During even numbered graduation years 2010, 2012, etc. GHS hosts a Financial Aid Night in December/January for seniors and their parents from Gladwin, Beaverton and surrounding schools. In odd numbered grad years 2009, 2011, etc. the event is hosted by Beaverton HS.
