Bubble Sheet

Students take a number of practical standardized tests to help them assess their attainment of the Michigan academic standards; receive career feedback; and further their understanding of education past high school. You can find the tests offered at Gladwin High School along with their respective websites (click on hyperlink) and a brief description below.

PLAN
The PLAN ® program helps 10th graders build a solid foundation for future academic and career success and provides information needed to address school districts' high-priority issues. It is a comprehensive guidance resource that helps students measure their current academic development, explore career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high school and post-graduation years. GHS administers (free of charge) the PLAN test to all 10th grade students. The test is an important part of preparing for the MME test taken during the junior year.

ACT The ACT is America's most widely accepted college entrance exam. It assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay. ALL students in the state of Michigan must take the ACT plus writing as part of the MME in the spring of their Junior year of high school.

PSAT The Preliminary SAT ®/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a co-sponsored program by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Testâ„¢. It also gives you a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs. The PSAT/NMSQT measures: critical reading skills math problem-solving skills writing skills You have developed these skills over many years, both in and out of school. ASVAB The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is intended for use with students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades, as well as students in post-secondary schools. The Program provides tools, including the test battery and interest inventory, developed by the Department of Defense to help high school and post-secondary students across the nation learn more about career exploration and planning. Results of the aptitude test and the interest inventory enable students to evaluate their skills, estimate performance in academic and vocational endeavors, and identify potentially satisfying careers. These results are integrated with work values to help students identify and prioritize possible career choices. Students are encouraged to consider their own work-related values and other important personal preferences as they explore the world of work and learn career exploration skills that will benefit them throughout their work lives. This test is periodically offered at GHS with enough student interest. This is NOT just a test for student who are military bound. Offers great information on finding a path and career that is right for all students.
